It Doesn't Get Any Better.....

Written by Carol Blanchard

Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!

The Budget Blinds of Hutchinson (KS) including Mary, Linda, Rachel & Jerry took the words right out of my mouth when I thought of how I wanted to acknowledge the upcoming holiday with you, our customers, potential customers and casual browsers to our website.  The Hutchinson team warmed our hearts with their timely message I received in the mail this morning.

Thanks to the many regular customers we have across the US and Canada, we've had a great year in business this 2011, though it is in no small part due to relationships like ours with the Hutchinson team that is responsible for our mutual success.

We consider it a privilege to advise, service, and manage your orders throughout the year, so no special thanks are necessary. But if you want to light up someone's day, send them a Send Out Card (www.sendoutcards.com/127830).  Thank you all and enjoy a fulfilling holiday.

Healthcare Loves Tableaux

Written by Carol Blanchard

Tableaux® faux iron shows up in the most interesting places. Long noted for elegant residential applications, Tableaux was used throughout the Sanford Children’s Clinic for a magical Disney effect. We love the castle themed center for the playful, inviting environment it provides for children visiting their doctors.

We worked diligently with designer Kelli Mitzel of Architecture, Inc. (www.architectureinc.com) to achieve an accurate representation of Sanford’s logo in the iron-like window treatments and grilles throughout the facility. Kelli wanted the wrought iron look without the weight, cost and maintenance – a perfect description of Tableaux faux iron’s benefits!

Kelli is a LEED accredited professional with a commitment to green building and sustainable design. It was a pleasure working with her to introduce versatile Tableaux in this Sanford clinic.

To create magic in your design work, learn more about Tableaux here on our website or give us a call at 512-928-4693 to talk through your plans. The beauty of wrought iron design has never been easier to achieve.

Faux Iron Customer Service Testimonial

Written by Carol Blanchard

I just wanted to thank you for going above and beyond the call of customer service recently.

I have been helping a friend of a friend decorate her house.  She is in the final stages of a destructive cancer and she is devoting her time to her family and their quality of life.  One of her missions has been to spruce up the house.

We decided to accentuate the arch in she and her husband's bedroom with Tableau, coupledwith new drapes.  After I placed the order for the Tableau, I was told that the family was taking a final tripto DisneyWorld and that they would be back by the end of the week.  We decided that we would try to finish her bedroom project while they were away for a big surprise.  I had resigned myself to the realization that the faux iron would just have to be put in later.  On a whim I called Faux Iron and told them about the situation.

Without hesitation, you and your staff took the 'bull by the horns' and put a rush on my order.

A couple days later, I got a call that the family was on their way home from Dallas at the same time a delivery arrived at my door.  It was the faux iron for my very special client!!  I grabbed my screwdriver, the faux iron and jumped in the car.

My friend arrived home and was in such amazement that her dream bedroom was complete!  And the icing on the cake was the beautiful Faux Iron piece!!!

Thank you so much for showing compassion and concern in making this friend's dream come to life.

You brought much happiness to a very deserving person!!

Sincere thanks,

Laura Yonich

Wrought Iron Design is a Fall Favorite

Written by Carol Blanchard

It’s near the end of August and we’re seeing holidays our sights. The seasonal change to Fall means turning our attention away from casual summer living to preparing our home for cozy cooler weather and upgrading furnishings for the holidays.

Tableaux_insert  Tableaux faux iron shows up in the most unexpected ways. Budget Blinds innovator Lori  Sanders expertly inserts Tableaux in her Norman shutters as well as designs interesting window applications. Lori has led the way using the elegance of wrought iron design in her window treatments. Fall home magazines are awash with wrought iron for wall décor, decorative iron doors and sidelights. Ironwork harkens back to times when the decorative craft was used protective security. Seeing wrought iron decorative art today throughout the home does add strength and texture .

Lori Sanders is a Budget Blinds dealer based in Denton, Texas. Visit her on Facebook to see more of her trend-setting window applications.

We Like It! - National Design Awards

Written by Carol Blanchard

I could not simply click Like on Facebook when I saw the video of the Awards luncheon at the White House. I had to pass it along for you to see these cutting edge winners in ten design categories.

The best in American design has been honoured at the annual National Design Awards. The selection process is quite unique in that the award candidates are actually nominated by a national committee of 2,500 design professionals. Each of these candidates must have a minimum of 7 years' professional experience and awards are given for a realised body of work rather than for a specific project.

SnugSeal Success Story – Bohnne Jones

Written by Carol Blanchard
BohnneJones_LivingNaturally we're excited about offering you an alternative to making templates for large arches. What makes our work satisfying is when we find designers who are able to accomplish outstanding results using our faux iron product and unique services. Designer Bohnne Jones, Decorating Den Interiors in Nashville generously shared her photos with us after asserting that SnugSeal solved a big problem for her. Her customer's window mouldings were set back at an angle so that the front part of the moulding and the back provided slightly different dimensions.

Do You Believe in Magic?

Written by Carol Blanchard

magic-kingdom-addressNot it’s not a trick question and Christmas is not just around the corner. The kind of magic I’m thinking about this morning is the magic of illusion.

Being all grown up means giving up illusions and seeing things the way they really are.  Right?

Wrong!  – I can hear designers protesting, “But that’s my entire job to create environments  that evoke historic and cultural ambience, drama, romance or other illusory experiences.

I think illusions are here to stay for people. We may tire of an illusion and get rid of that one, but another one pops into its place. I mean, if we say we love nothing more than an uncluttered, simple  environment that is in itself creating an illusion of contrived order. Matter is in constant movement which is the opposite of a fixed, reliable order of things.

So, maybe magic is ability to transform one illusion into another, one of our choosing and one that fully delights us.

I like this definition of magic because it I get to be a participant in lots of magic going on. Every Tableaux® order that goes out the door is a piece of someone’s dream, someone’s illusion under construction. Nothing proves this more than seeing your Before and After photos. Magic making at its best! Callus to see how your interiors can benefit from Tableaux faux iron.

imgresImagine Mardi Gras revelers parading through New Orleans’ French Quarter behind a fully decked out  brass and drum band – in May! That’s exactly what we did as part of Interiors by Decorating Den’s annual conference in the famed River City last week.  Astonished tourists returned our waves as we stepped down Bourbon Street and snaked through the maze of neon shop lights.

Relaxation for Health & Creativity

Written by Carol Blanchard

All is well!
After much deliberation, I gave myself a two week yoga retreat feeling quite a bit of guilt about taking myself away from Faux Iron for so long and indulging in training that was not directly related to my job.

Or was it?
